A rule of thumb: if your app is mostly screens, forms, lists, and API calls — a marketplace, a booking app, an internal tool — start cross-platform and ship to both stores with one developer. You can always split a cross-platform app into native later if one feature demands it; almost nobody regrets starting with one codebase.

Cross-platform folds that into one shared codebase. React Native, from Meta, lets a JavaScript or TypeScript developer render real native components, so if your web team already writes React the ramp is short. Flutter, from Google, uses the Dart language and paints its own pixels, which gives you identical screens on both platforms and very smooth motion, at the cost of a language most people pick up on the job.
