What a senior MEAN stack developer actually does

Anyone can wire up MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.js and get a to-do list app running by Friday. What separates a senior MEAN developer from that is judgment: where logic belongs, when Angular's opinions help a team and when they get in the way, and how a schema-less database still needs a schema in practice.

TypeScript end-to-end, actually shared

MEAN's real advantage over most other stacks is that TypeScript runs the whole way through. A senior developer defines an interface once, for a User or an Order, and shares it between the Angular front end and the Express backend through a shared library or a monorepo package. A field rename then breaks the build instead of failing silently in production. Mongoose schemas get typed too, with generics tying the database document shape to the same interface the API returns.

Angular's structure, used the way it's meant to be used

Angular is opinionated on purpose: standalone components, services for shared logic, dependency injection instead of prop-drilling, and RxJS Observables instead of a grab-bag of state libraries. A senior developer uses dependency injection to swap a real API service for a mock one in tests without touching a single component, writes custom RxJS operators to keep data transformations out of the template, and reaches for NgRx only when a genuinely global, cross-cutting piece of state justifies the extra boilerplate. MongoDB, schema-less in name only
